DEN OTTER FINE ART

Jonathan has more than 15 years of experience in the art world, with a particular focus on works on paper, and founded Den Otter Fine Art in 2021.

After studying History of Art in Leiden and Amsterdam, Jonathan joined the Prints department at Christie’s in London in 2014. Soon after, he became a Cataloguer, and later a Specialist and Head of Sale in the Old Master Drawings Department. As such, Jonathan worked on the I.Q. van Regteren Altena sale (2014-2015), the largest collection of Dutch & Flemish drawings on the market in decades which sold for over 20 million euros, the Old Masters/New Scholars: Works of Art Sold to Benefit Rugby School (2018), which included Lucas van Leyden’s drawing of a young man which sold for over 13 million euros and the Italian Drawings from the Robert Landolt Collection sale (2020).

After 7 years at Christie’s, Jonathan moved back to his native Rotterdam where he founded Den Otter Fine Art in 2021. The gallery specializes in old master prints and drawings as well as 19th century, modern and contemporary works on paper. Clients are welcome to visit the gallery on appointment. Since its foundation Jonathan has sold to various institutions including:

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam
